Engineering Geology is the application of Geologic Science to Civil Engineering to define earth conditions impacting design, construction and service of engineered structures and systems.

A Registered Geologist (REG) is a licensed, highly trained geologist who specializes in Engineering Geology. Geologic investigations often includes indentification of Geologic hazards relative to the potential for landslides, erosion, flooding, seismic induced hazards, dewatering and faulting. This information is then incorporated into site specific Geotechnical Engineering, design and construction maintenance.
